All on an evening's walk

My dog does not run through the forest, she swims. From the first jump in to the final lap, she courses under and over and through the woods like a mermaid through the waves.  Her body in perfect form - legs tucked up, ears back, the perfect spring forward of her body. She is enveloped by the green of leaves and trees and vines, disappearing quickly from view.  Her head pops up ahead,  further along the trail above the two foot high grass at the edge of a field. Looking disembodied as it floats into the grass, she tucks it back under and is gone.  Her wake streams out in a trail I follow.

not my dog, but this is how she jumps
