Just got back from a bike ride.
Passed three tractors on my way back.
Tractors almost as big as the road itself.
Driven by kids who looked 12.
No joke.
Maybe they are not 12, but you know what?
They're also not 16 or older.
Driving tractors that are AS BIG AS THE ROAD.
Tractors probably worth over $50,000.
Driven by kids.
I'm not sure if I am more 1) freaked out, 2) concerned for the kids, or 3) semi-accepting that "this is life" here.
Plus, because they were driving slow, an 18 wheeler decided to pass them coming down this hill and almost hit me. I exaggerate, but I did have to stop and pull off the road so as not to become a road pizza.

I miss you, but I'm glad you're enjoying Vermont. Having grown up in a very rural town in central New York, let me share something with you:
While I grew up in a normal suburb, our town was HUGE due to the vast farmland. I went to high school with a girl whose family owned one of the farms in Baldwinsville. She and her younger siblings used to drive the tractors and farm equipment all the time, starting at age 12 or 13 usually. When you live on a family farm, you get a lot of responsibility at a young age, so 13 is mature enough to learn to drive a tractor. Their dad taught them how, it wasn't as if they didn't know what they were doing. At first I too was appalled. But they just saw it as a way of life.
@me - I am not appalled at this phenomenom, however, I am unaccustomed to it. thanks for the insight though, this is country girl aint used to this much country i guess. back in my home town we had a lot of small farms, no big tractors roaming the streets.
